hi, I am really interested in the Glasgow postcard – I have been researching W.W. Wardrop (am from Glasgow myself). Do you know if it had been posted and this is why as to the certainty of it being Glasgow as there are no real indicators in the photograph itself without doing the actual research. I know exactly where it was photographed through my research but am not convinced of the year.

Good stuff! That I can’t answer with any certainty at the moment, I photographed the back of each card so I’ll check my files over the next few days and let you know if there’s anything there that will shed some light on that. Will let you know. Cheers

hi, it would be great if you could locate an image of the other side as I now know that it was photographed on Monday 11th September 1922 at 547 Govan Road, Glasgow. The headline about the liner that sank was the German passenger liner, Hammonia (originally called the Hollandia) which was carrying passengers and general cargo from Hamburg and Vigo to Puerto Mexico when she was leaking badly on her coaling ports. She finally foundered on September 9th, 1922, 100 miles SW of Vigo, Spain with the loss of 19 people. The Air Race headline is the first Kings Cup that was an around Britain 2 day challenge. Labours Own One Penny is a penny off beer. The Glasgow Motor Charabanc was an accident involving 30 people that overturned. No one was badly injured. The football fans fight headline – was crowd violence at a Falkirk and Glasgow Rangers game.
WW stands for Walter Wingate Wardrop, its possible that is his wife in the photo.

Hello, that’s fascinating! I checked the back of the card and there’s no information about the image, it was blank with nothing on it. I’ll pass on your findings to John Kasmin, the collector if that’s okay with you? I’m sure he’ll be pleased to know all this information. Do you have an email address?
